My hobbies are photography, ballroom dancing, hiking, traveling, cooking and shopping. Rensselaer has a rich set of activity clubs which helped me learn ballroom dancing and photography.

Why did you choose to enroll at Rensselaer?
I selected to attend RPI primarily because of the fact that it is the oldest private technology institutions in the US. Secondly, the flexible course structure for the MS IT course is another main reason why I selected RPI over other Ivy League offers for pursuing my Masters. MS IT at RPI has a variety of concentrations like human computer interaction, software design, database, management information systems, and web science. Students can select any one or multiple concentrations and they can wait until the last semester to decide the concentration. Thirdly, the MS IT course at RPI is a job-oriented course and prepares students well for stepping into the professional world. RPI also has a strong Alumni network always willing to help.

What are some benefits of being part of the Graduate Community at Rensselaer?
Graduate students have easy accessibility to a number of academic and non-academic resources. Besides this, at RPI students get lot of encouragement from faculty and peers and a very positive environment to become a well-rounded person. RPI also gives students a platform to engage in community service and give back to the society.

What would you tell a prospective student about choosing Rensselaer?
“Why not change the world” – the slogan of RPI says it all. The first thing I would tell a prospective student is the slogan and the fact that if you want the right platform for your ideas to grow into reality, technological expertise and guidance of excellent faculty members which will help you become a pioneer in your field of interest, then RPI is the right place for you.

I was also the Event Coordinator of Graduate Indian Student Association, RPI and organized a number of cultural events.

What are your plans following graduation?
After graduation, I plan to enter the professional world and use the knowledge and skills I developed at RPI to work towards a successful career. I will join Cisco Systems in Jan 2013 as a Full-Time Software Engineer. As an MS IT student at RPI, I had multiple job offers from renowned companies located both in East Coast and West Coast.
